Day 1 - NSO Overnight Basecamp Student Schedule

9:00 A.M.

Program starts

Your guest(s) can drop you off by the Westvaco Natural Resources Center. No parking pass or validation is needed. You will need to fill out some additional paperwork at check in. We do NOT provide breakfast. Please eat before arriving.

Introductions and games

Led by upperclassmen, you’ll get to know a little bit about the other students attending the NSO Overnight Basecamp program.

11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Low- and high-ropes course programming

A break for lunch will be included. What are low and high ropes? View information about the course.

5:00 - 7:00 P.M.

Dinner and downtime

A pizza dinner will be provided, followed by time to relax and speak with program participants and upperclassmen staff.

Evening Discussion

Engage in an informal discussion with the upperclassmen staff and fellow participants about making the most of your NSO experience and your time at WVU.

Enjoy time to discuss and play games with fellow participants and staff.

You will be staying in bunk-like accommodations in "yurts" (like circular cabins).

Day 2 - Orientation Student Schedule

7:00 A.M.

Shuttle begins

We will take you from the Outdoor Education Center to the Coliseum to drop off your belongings and meet any guests who may be joining you. You will then take a University shuttle to the Mountainlair Student Union for check-in.

7:45 - 8:30 A.M.


Upon checking in, you will receive a name tag, lunch ticket and other materials. Please wear your name tag throughout the program. Be sure to have your photo taken for your Mountaineer ID Card!

8:30 - 9:00 A.M.


Experience an introduction to the Mountaineer family and discover what is in store for your day.

Mountainlair Ballrooms, second floor

9:10 - 10:15 A.M.

Campus Life and Housing Q&A

Learn about where you’ll be living on campus, including information about move-in, student services, campus safety and other initiatives to make sure you succeed. If you are commuting, your session will focus on resources to help you stay connected to campus.

Leaving from the Mountainlair Ballrooms

10:20 A.M. - Noon

Academic Presentation

Meet with representatives from your academic college or school and hear what to expect in your first semester. You will be given the tools to make sure you are on track for graduation and prepared for your future career.


Noon - 1:00 P.M.


Free lunch?! Enjoy a meal on us at one of the Mountainlair restaurants. From burgers to sushi and salads to pizza, we have options for every eater.

Course Registration

Meet with an academic adviser to register for your first semester classes!


2:00 - 4:00 P.M.

Information Fair

Get to know the student services that will help you transition to WVU. It’s a great place to reunite with your guests!


After 3:00 P.M.

Done for the day?

Take a shuttle back to the Coliseum, the Student Rec Center or check out Evansdale Crossing and the Mountaineer Hub, your centralized location for Student Accounts, Financial Support and Services, Scholarships, Academic Information and Student Employment!
